WHO would benefit from the Soccology eSchool programmes?
Everybody benefits from understanding their own mental health better and being equipped with the tools to manage the inevitable pressures of life. So the Soccology eSchool is for all, helping to prevent the escalation of mental health problems that pose a risk to everybody.
Our programmes are tailored to meet the needs of young people and adults in a wide range of settings including schools, workplaces and institutions for offenders.
The programmes and workshops detailed here are for everyone, irrespective of whether they are involved in the world of football or not. For details of the one-to-one support that we offer to players, parents and coaches involved in football please visit Soccology One-to-One.
WHY is the Soccology eSchool needed?
Mental health problems amongst young people are an unseen epidemic that destroys lives and negatively impacts communities across the country, especially in areas of disadvantage. 80% of participants in Soccology programmes had experienced mental health problems but never received any previous support.
The Soccology eSchool exists to use the power of the world’s most popular game to help transform mental health outcomes and improve lives. Our powerful programmes and workshops empower young people and adults with mental health awareness and support them to develop the essential life skill of emotional literacy.
100% of participants reported having better understanding of mental health issues after the sessions and found value in their learning.
WHAT is the Soccology eSchool?
The Soccology eSchool is an online school that offers our general Soccology programme which is available for all young people and adults. It helps participants to understand the definition of mental health, the uniqueness of our feelings, building resilience, developing empathy and self regulation. For more in depth information on the Soccology syllabus, please click here.
As well as our general programme the eSchool also offers the following tailored services:
Street Health: this programme has been designed for working with young men from inner cities, who are vulnerable and at risk of being drawn into gangs. It provides the support these young men need to overcome the challenges they face and to turn their lives around positively.
Covid-19 Reintegration: a new programme focusing on the mental health challenges associated with the coronavirus lockdown. This programme uses cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) methodologies, to help those whose mental health has suffered throughout the lockdown.
“Kevin delivered Soccology to our players. It was the first time we had run workshops like this but he was the perfect choice of presenter to run the sessions. The players were fully engaged and staff commented afterwards that we should run more programmes like this for the players, which isn’t the reaction we always get.”

HOW does the Soccology eSchool work?
Soccology uses the contributions of professional footballers from around the world, about their personal experiences and uses football as a metaphor. This allows people who are not fans of football to engage in the process, as the content is really about the inner mechanics of our minds and how we can improve them.
Delivery style is in the form of debate, the arts, quizzes, presentations and conversation, to adhere to a variety of learning needs and preferences.
95% of the programme will be delivered to the whole group, the remaining five percent will be delivered to selected individuals. As part of the legacy programme, to ensure sustainability.
Soccology work is created from the Soccology book. Participants will receive a signed copy of the Soccology bookand a certificate on completion of course (if participation requirements are met).
Our eSchool schedule can be tailored to meet the needs of any group. The programme can consist of as little as a single workshop, or can be delivered over the course of eight weeks, three months or even over a year. Classes can range from one hour per week to four hours per day.
Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements and to create the Soccology programme that best meets the needs of your group.
